Weekly exfoliation may make your skin feel soft, smooth and clean. A scrub removes dead skin cells and give you that radiant looking skin you dream of. But I don’t like the products containing microbeads. They’re not only rough for our skin, but are harmful for our environment, marine life and human health.
So, it’s better to use scrubs with all-natural ingredients, like salt, sugar, oatmeal, almond, coffee and even milk. You can also get your skin shining and refreshed with these natural exfoliating products. Among them, the two most popular choices for scrubbing products are sugar and salt based ones. We pick them and use blindly without knowing the difference between the two.
Well, today I am going to talk about the difference between sugar and salt scrub, so that you, the skin enthusiasts can choose which one you are going to reach for.
Sugar scrub vs Salt scrub:
Size matters here bro! Sugar scrubs have smaller granules than that of the salt. That’s why I always suggest sensitive skin girls to pickup sugar based formula. These smaller granules make them less abrasive on the skin. They contain nutrients that work as skin food to replenish your skin. The other good point is sugar scrubs never sting, that’s why you may use it on sunburn, even if you have sensitive skin.
Do you know, sugar is full of glycolic acid that effectively removes dead cells, treats scars, fine lines and wrinkles? You can make a sugar scrub at home by mixing sugar with grapeseed oil or jojoba oil or any carrier oil of your choice. You can also add honey to it if you have excessively dry skin.
Salt scrubs work same way that a sugar scrub do. They not only buff away dead skin cells, but help pulling toxins from our skin. For their detoxifying properties, salt scrubs become so popular in us. Most salt scrubs contain sea salts, Himalayan, Mediterranean sea, Dead sea that work as natural purifiers to remove pore-clogging toxins. If you are looking for a good spa like treatment at home, salt scrubs are the best options. They may promote better circulation, improve skin complexion and tighten the skin.
But, inspite of so many benefits, I don’t recommend salt scrubs for delicate skin, because of the coarser texture of the salt granules. So, sugar scrubs are preferred to use on face, while coarser texture of salt scrub is perfect for buffing away dry, rough patches from elbows, knees or feet for a vibrant glow.
